Don't Sweat It!

I can remember years ago, starting a resume from scratch. I worked hours on getting it aligned, the right font, the right format, and section titles.

A friend was doing the same thing as I . She spent 1 hour, and I spent 4. The next day we exchanged finished products and hers was by far better. She spent her time on the content, rather than fidgeting with formatting. I on the other hand, was trying to perfect both!

Lesson learned, take what is already perfected, and add your experience and skills. You will end up with a professional looking resume!

Resume Building - Tips

There is nothing worse than picking up a really great resume, only to find that the font they used is difficult to read. I know that sometimes I select a font that looks great to me... but when I try to read it; I struggle with some of the letters and find it frustrating to read. Not a good idea when we send our resumes off to potential employers.

Bottom line, when it comes to a resume…keep the font simple, clear and crisp! In doing so, you may very well be selected for an interview over someone else with more experience, because your resume was easy to read!

Celebrate National Aboriginal History Month This June

Participate in Local Events to Learn about Ontario’s Indigenous History

Every June, Canadians are invited to celebrate the contributions of Indigenous people in Canada by taking part in National Aboriginal History Month events and festivities.

Declared in 2009, National Aboriginal History Month is a time to acknowledge the role Indigenous peoples played in the development of Canada, to honour Indigenous heritage and to celebrate Indigenous cultures. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the strength of present day First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities, and their hopes for the future.
