Nov 2021 - INTERMEDIATE/SENIOR ENVIRONMENT CONSULTANT

Currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Consultant based out of the Calgary, Lethbridge or Red Deer area.

A successful candidate will have a diverse skill set and experience with Pre-Construction, Remediation and Reclamation projects. You will work in a team atmosphere to ensure project requirements are completed safely and efficiently. You will provide cost-effective solutions while providing our clients with a high quality of work while maintaining professional ethics.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Reclamation or similar discipline
  • Professional designation or articling to obtain is considered and asset
  • 3-5 years’ relevant field experience
  • Knowledge of the water act and experience with wetland classification is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines and the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines would be an asset
  • Understanding of the upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in AB, BC
  • Experience with reclamation and remediation on private and public lands
  • Strong soil characterization and vegetation identification skills
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction;
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, exemplary interpersonal skills and is very detail oriented and organized;
  • Precise attention to detail and ability to produce professional quality deliverables on time and on budget;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and database entry
  • Good physical health with willingness to travel and work in the field for extended periods
  • AIA and or SIA Member (preferred but not necessary)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid Pesticide Applicators License an asset

What you will be responsible for (May include but not limited to)

  • Execute scopes of work and cost estimates under the supervision of the Project Manager;
  • Ensure project requirements are met in a timely and effective manner
  • Participating in technical and safety programs, quality assurance and quality control
  • Supervise small and large scale reclamation and remediation projects
  • Assist with execution of Phase 2 and Phase 3 site assessments
  • Complete detailed site assessments and groundwater monitoring
  • Coordinate and supervise tree planting
  • Manage and meet all client and regulatory ground disturbance requirements;
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, directives and SOP’s
  • Implement internal and client safety programs
  • Remain current with environmental legislation and regulatory updates, provide updated information as it becomes available to staff.

Nov 2021 - INDIGENOUS ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN (TEMPORARY)

Currently seeking an Intermediate to Senior Biophysical Specialist/Terrestrial Ecologist based of out of Fort McMurray, AB.

Indigenous Engagement Program is designed to give Indigenous People the opportunity to gain and access theoretical and hands-on training to become environmental professionals. Therefore, we are looking for a successful candidate with an Aboriginal status that will have the opportunity to build a diverse skillset and gain experience with Pre-Construction, Remediation, and Reclamation projects. You will work in a team atmosphere to ensure project requirements are completed safely and efficiently. You will provide cost-effective solutions while providing our clients with a high quality of work while maintaining professional ethics.


The position will involve fieldwork that will be managed through the Indigenous Engagement Program. Successful completion of temporary employment will result in course credits towards a Lakeland  College diploma. 


Required Education & Qualifications

Position Filled: - Field Coordinator

We are working with Smart Skills Connect to fill a position near Claresholm, Alberta. Seeking a local resource as there is no travel/board/mileage/hotel allowance provided.

This position is entry-level.

Work hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Must have: Computer experience (email, excel, and word).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure trailer, materials, hardware (equipment, tools), data (server architecture) are maintained, cleaned, and in proper order.
• Communicate needs to Supervisor for efficient and operational environment (field tools, IT equipment).
• Ensure good work ethics and behaviors (hours of work/lunch breaks/breaks, work activities, etc.) are followed
• Ensure that Company property is solely used for business activities.
• Provide excellent customer service by arriving at site location daily in a timely manner and communicating tactfully with Axsus project team, management, client, and client’s stakeholders.

Material Receipt, Installation & Quality Control Responsibilities:
• Spray painting/marking helical piles according to color code
• Support product receiving activities, completing quality control inspections and audits, documenting & reporting material quantities arriving to site, reporting shipping damages or issues, reporting material handling damages or issues, reporting material placement and storage, etc. Apply and maintain daily accurate document control (paper and electronic copies) and provide accurate reporting to the project team.
• Assist with customer and contractor issues and work with Axsus departments in applying lessons learned, quality assurance, and continuous improvement associated training needs.
• Perform other duties as required

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow the duties and responsibilities specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act Sections 28.

CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Looking to fill a position available for an Environmental Assistant.

This is an opportunity for an individual that is interested and committed to learning about environmental reclamation in the oil and gas sector and of current environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will assist field staff in conducting Environmental Site Assessments.

This opportunity will require the successful candidate to report during business hours, as well outside of regular hours which can be between 07:00 am – 18:30 pm; with potential for late evenings during the summer (this will be dependant on workloads and travel time to and from sites).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Assist with investigating, analyzing land records, and conducting interviews to determine environmental risk.
• Conduct interviews with landowners on land use and risk at the site.
• Ability to read utility maps to access sites, ability to understand and know how to use Legal Land Description.
• Conduct field surveys to assess and confirm environmental impact at the site.
• A working knowledge of plant identification, including trees, shrubs, and ground vegetation is desirable.
• Assist in soil and water sample collection.
• Prepare samples, including proper labeling for sending to the laboratory for analysis.
• Assist in analyzing and synthesize field data to effectively report and make recommendations based on collected data.
• Assist in compiling site photos, data, and documents for report preparation.
• Assist in reviewing reports.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Adept knowledge while using Microsoft programs;

Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety procedures & policies
Participate in and coordinate clean job site
